Introduction Tour with Media @ Petrosains Part 2-The Discovery Centre

Okay, after a long wait. This is the part 2 of the trip. We were brought to Petrosains, The Discovery Centre which occupying level 4 and 5 of both Tower 1 and Tower 2 of PETRONAS Twin Towers after Dialogue in The Dark. Petrosains covers a total exhibit area of more than 7000 square metres.

I combined the photos taken during my first visit last year in this post as for this quick trip, we did not have any chance to take lots photo.

I got Petrosains voucher from my friend, Elizabeth last year and then we redeem 2 pairs of tickets to Petrosains and the exhibition.

Before we entered, we have to get in the dark ride. The dark ride, shaped as an oil drop, brought us in a dark and tranquil ambience through the rainforest of Malaysia, up to the peak of a mountain, before diving into the sea, and finally going through a video display depicting Malaysia's transformation and its advancement into the new millenium.

That is the pathway during the dark ride.

Stick the magnet to a height that our hands able to reach. Then, jump as high as possible. Deduct both numbers to get the difference. We will get to know how much calories spent after all according to one's weight ^^

Petrojaya is a cartoon village where dynamic high technology is blended with the Malaysian art of shadow play or Wayang Kulit.

Can you see something floating? That's the image created through mirrors.

Good bye to Petrojaya section.

Geotime Diorama takes us back more than 200 millions years to meet a 'singing' dinasour and to explore a vast diorama where ancient scents permeates the air.

Geotime Diorama

A special area showcases realistic models of prehistoric animals and plants and a volcano.

We were being told this was how elephant in those time look like. The size was smaller than a horse in those time.

Volcanic eruptions in progress....

Exploration is a section where all the hi-tech tools and techniques used for petroleum exploration are displayed. In addition, visitors will have the chance to glimpse into the job of a geologist or a seismologist.

Sit at the bench, press the button and feel the earthquake.

Oil platform was built with very hard steel to withstand the high pressure at the sea.

I was told the drills to break the stone in the sea made with diamonds. All these drills are very expensive because of this!

This is how room at the oil platform looks like.

The food looks yummy but only for display

Music, Art and Science is an area where music, art and science are inter-related and seamlessly living together harmoniously. The take home message for visitors to this area will be the feeling of satisfaction that scientists, artists and musicians experienced when they are engaged in their creative and expressive processes.
